What is PM Vishwakarma Yojana 2024?
The Economic Affairs Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved a new central scheme, “PM Vishwakarma”, with a financial outlay of Rs 13,000 crore for a period of five years from 2023-24 to 2027. PM Vishwakarma Yojana aims to strengthen and nurture family-based traditional skills through Guru-Shishya parampara or through their own hands and tools, i.e. by craftsmen and artisans.
The scheme will aim to improve access to artisans and craftsmen not only in terms of access but also in terms of quality, thereby ensuring that domestic products are integrated with global and domestic value chains by skilled people.
Under PM Vishwakarma Yojana 2024, artisans and craftsmen will be given PM Vishwakarma Card and ID so that they can avail loans up to Rs. Rs 1 lakh as upfront payment and Rs 2 lakh as second installment at an interest rate of 5%. Loan facility will be provided under the scheme. The scheme is going to provide benefits related to skill upgradation, incentives on tool kits, incentives on digital transactions as well as marketing assistance.
